The De-Portalization of the Internet (aka What I Would Do If I Were Running Yahoo!) ( A VC)

Fred Wilson ( A VC ) takes a stab at running Yahoo. As he states in the post, many readers like the comments that follow his posts. This is one of those posts where the post & comments need to be read together. Take a look.

From my perspective I still use Yahoo, but I also don’t use it a lot.

** What I use — I pay for Yahoo’s e-mail ’cause it is guaranteed to be mine, I use Yahoo finance and likely won’t change, & my home page is “My Yahoo”.

** What I don’t use — I read my news elsewhere (NetNewswire & Netvibes), I use Google search, I use Jotspot a lot ( now Google) (all my kids teams web pages), I use wordpress (and MarsEdit) for my this blog, I use MSN Messenger, I use Skype, I subscribe to audible and e-Music.

I’ve had a my.yahoo.com acc’t for something like 10 years. It looks like e-mail and finance are the only sticky points for me.
