Whats with Shaw.ca mailservers and xxx@yahoo.com e-mail addresses?

It’s been over a week that all ( or most of ) my Yahoo originated mail is bouncing back from xxx@shaw.ca e-mail destinations? I’ve had way too many of these “Mail server for “shaw.ca” is unreachable for too long messages”. Anybody else having this problem? I’ve only found one other note on the web so far.

xxx@gmail.com seems to get thru the shaw.ca server. So the near term solution seems to be switching to my g-mail account.

Still a problem 😦 I sent some of my bounce info to Shaw, but problem still continues. I did get a test messages from my yahoo e-mail address thru to my shaw address, but it took 2 days 😦

    XR LLC Customer Service [info@xrllc.com] is an address that fails to complete when a send is made from Shaw. However, emails from this address are recieved by shaw accounts without a problem….has been this way for months.

    I have just signed up on yahoo mail. They will not let me transfer address book from my shaw.ca account,it is not on the selected list. I tried typing it in does not work. Can I not transfer my address book this way? Is there an alternative way?

    * fyi … my my point is “I’m not happy with Yahoo mail”. It is no longer my primary e-mail. I’d recommend using gmail.
    * wrt/ Shaw address book
    – shaw webmail has a feature to export the address book into many formats.
    – if you plan to switch away from Shaw then export your address book in Webmail
    – then import it into gmail or yahoo mail or whatever you choose.

    We have an email issue with shaw.ca as well. My wife shaw.ca account sends out emails and people respond but in most cases she does not recieve their response. Called Shaw and they stated it was not their end but to look into our Outlook Express. Tried their method to track problem by shutting down Outlook and emailing to her shaw address but shaw still did not receive the test email. Also, attempted to send a test email to her address from other email sites and shaw.ca still did not receive the email. We had a similar problem a few years ago so went to gmail and it gets through for our website. Again, they said it must be our website so talked w/our webmaster and he said that Shaw gives people this runaaround whey it really is their issue and won’t acknowledge it. I feel stuck in the middle with no solution. Any ideas as to the problem?

      Hi Dave,
      In my case it appeared that shaw.ca actively blocked(s) what it deems to be an “aggressive” mail server. My yahoo mail account happened to live on a specific server that shaw.ca deemed aggressive. So I could not send an e-mail from my yahoo mail account to my shaw mail account. But my kids could send e-mail from their yahoo mail accounts to my shaw mail account. The irony of this is that my paid-for-yahoo mail account was blocked, and my kids free accounts were not. I guess most spammers pay for their accounts and thus these servers are “aggressive” 😦

      Bottom line is that I believe that it is not domain specific ( ie @yahoo.com or @hotmail.com ), but server specific.

      In your case I’m guessing that senders with @shaw.ca addresses get thru to your wife, but other addresses do not ( especially @yahoo.com(ca) or @hotmail.com )

      I think you are stuck with changing to a gmail account, or finding an enterprise grade e-mail service.

    I just got a series of emails from the ABA (american BAR association). Apparently their servers are bumping my shaw address of their lists as unreliable. 15+ dropped emails in the last 24 hours for “unknown errors”. Dambit shaw.
